LYRICS: All The Right Moves

Where, where have you been, a____ll my life
Where, have you been, I’ve been troubling my mind
With those sticky fingers, reaching for the gun
You got all the kings and queens in those hands of yours
With same lame excuses, afraid to take the shot
Load them bullets aim that gun pull the trigger hope tomorrow never comes

And you got all all, the right moves
All, all the right moves
And you got all all, the right moves
All, all the right moves

Trapped In Static (TIS.) made their New York City debut in 2011 as an alternative rock/indie band featuring singer/guitarist Athan Hilaki (formerly of GAD.) and drummer David Torres. Hilaki’s dynamically strong vocals feature a hint of raspy power that are often compared to vocal legends Chris Cornell (Soundgarden/Audioslave), Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam) and Scott Stapp (Creed). Torres’s drum rhythms take their influence from Kings Of Leon, Phoenix and Interpol, creating the foundational surge for the listener to truly become part of the music. Using the depth of life experiences as inspiration for their lyrics, the band strive to connect with the listener through rock-and-roll infused messages of overcoming obstacles with a tinge of sorrow-filled hope. Guitar riffs, keyboards and an emotionally-charged stage presence add to the radio-ready experience of TIS.

“We’re all trying to escape the static that surrounds us,” said Athan. “We all seem to be trapped in some way, and the theme of our music is to find ways to break free from the things that hold you back. I’m not just saying the lyrics…I’m feeling them.”

TIS. have made an immediate impact on the New York City music scene performing in some of the city’s most coveted venues including Gramercy Theater, The Studio at Webster Hall, The Bitter End, Sullivan Hall, Knitting Factory, Pianos, Bowery Electric, Delancey and Arlene’s Grocery, and the band’s songs were featured on the TV shows Minding Your Business (2012) and Niteclub Ratings (2013). TIS. has also appeared live on Ellas TV, WVIP FM, Nexus Productions Radio and Hellas FM radio. In December 2011 TIS. finished 5th in the competition “Hometown Hero” by z100, and were named TOP Artist of May 2013 at winning $10.000 and competing with over 1000 artists. In July 2013, they released their first EP titled On a Stage (Red Thumbtack) featuring the singles What Else Is There and Lost Souls which is currently available on iTunes, Amazon and Google. A full album is scheduled to be released in early 2014 and a US tour is shaping up for mid-2014.
